Abacus & mental arithmetic courses for children above 3 years
The abacus, also called a counting frame, is a calculating tool used primarily in parts of Asia for performing arithmetic processes. Today, abacus are often constructed as a bamboo frame with beads sliding on wires, but originally they were beans or stones moved in grooves in sand or on tablets of wood, stone, or metal. The abacus was in use centuries before the adoption of the written modern numeral system and is still widely used by merchants, traders and clerks in Asia, Africa, and elsewhere.

Calligraphy is the art of forming beautiful symbols by hand and arranging them well.
It’s a set of skills and techniques for positioning and inscribing words so they show integrity, harmony, some sort of ancestry, rhythm and creative fire.
The dictionary definition of calligraphy is ‘handwriting or penmanship’, or simply ‘beautiful writing’. The word has its root in the Greek language. ‘Kalli’ means beautiful and ‘graphia’ is the Greek word for writing.
It is therefore the visual art of writing. A more contemporary definition of calligraphy goes like this: ‘the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skilful manner’.
It is the design and execution of lettering with a broad tip instrument or brush in one stroke (as opposed to built up lettering, in which the letters are drawn.)
Phonetics is associated with the pronunciation of words in English language. The word phonetics is derived from the Greek term ‘Phone’ means sound or acoustics or voice. The phonetics in English language is represented in symbols. These symbols are called as IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet). These symbols are enclosed with slashes. Normally every human being is able to produce the word or sound with the help of speech organs that are lips and tongue.
Many times we can see that many words would not be similar with reference to its pronunciation and written form. For example the letter /f/ can be written as
Knowledge of phonetics would help us to pronounce each word correctly as it is supposed to sound. When children learn the same at a young age, they get more clarity on the right pronunciation.
It is important for parents to encourage their children to learn phonetics at the right age itself, so that they do not face difficulties in oral and spoken English in future.
Kids Concepts is soon launching weekend courses in Phonetics to benefit all children to strengthen the basics of English pronunciation, thereby improve their communication quality effectively. Stay tuned for more information or register to be updated once the course is launched shortly.
Our handwriting is very personal, a part of our self-image and an expression of our personality, just as the way we dress and present ourselves. We all have a view on how our handwriting appears to others and would sometimes like that image to be different!
Handwriting is a means of expressing language, just like speech, and it also leaves a lasting trace. Some call it 'Language by Hand'. It is a physical way of expressing thoughts and ideas and a means of communicating with others. Some people, young and old, find handwriting very difficult to perform and feel they need help to perfect the skill. Support from those with expertise and experience is nearly always appreciated.
